I have a strange virus! I bought and downloaded Norton Anti-Virus onto my computer, but it won't completely install... there's a prompt telling me I already have an anti-virus program that's using LiveUpdate, therefore I can't completely install Norton. I have SBC Anti-Virus through my DSL service, but that anti-virus program is no good. It obviously didn't detect the virus I have. Does anyone know how I can disarm it on my SBC anti-virus program so I completely install Norton? Has anyone ever faced this? I'm very frustrated. By the way, my virus causes all kinds of weird problems on my computer. It will create all sort of error prompts. And mostly, it'll tell me my virtual memory is low when I only have two programs open. I know that's not the case! HELP!!!!!!!

In windows,
Restart your coputer and tap the F8 Key... A boot menu will appear. Choose AAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.... your comuter boots and you login. Click Start, run, msconfig.
UNCHECK THE BOX, LOAD START UP ITEMS. Click apply and OK. Restart your computer, again hitting the F8 key and choosing Safe mode with networking.
Login
Click, start, control panel, select internet options. On the general tab, Clear history, and cookies.... Hit OK, and then launch IE from your dekstop.
Naviagate to MAJORGEEKS.COM AND CLICK SPYWARE TOOLS FORM THE LIST ON THE LEFT. DOWNLOAD, ADAWARE se PERSONAL AND INSTALL IT, as well as, Spybot search and destroy. Be sure to get your updates before you scan. and delete/quarintine anything that you find.
Re-run MSconfig and Click on the start up tab. Check only the boxes that you know of..... IE check the path line. Only enable anytig with a smantec, Mcaffee, or your ISP name... SBC... Then restart your coputer normally.
NOTE~ DO NOT GO SURFING THE INTERNET WHILE YOU HAVE UNCHECKED THE STARTUP TAB IN MSCONFIG, FOR THIS WILL HAVE DISABLED YOUR ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAMS.... Reenable only that what you know, for that what your don't, will hurt you! Spamer often add spyware programs to this list to start when your computer starts....
Also, if you have windows 2000, Go into the internet options and clear your items noted above. Then attempt to download MSconfig.exe from google.com. It is a small configuratioin utiliy....

norton doesn't always work
purchase Ad-Aware SE personal because it doesn't use Live-Update so it will install in about 15 minutes
my computer would always get viruses
then i installed Ad-Aware SE personal and my computer hasn't gotten a virus since!! just install Ad-Aware SE personal then click on start. then when it has finished scaning your computer, and trust me, it will find EVERY SINGLE VIRUS, there will be a notice telling you how many critical files it has found
click on the logfile tab and click "delete all"
your virus will be gone for good!!

use system restore to restore ur computer its in system tools on acceseries in programs list
