I got a 720 on the verbal and a 600 on the math. Someone told me that it was bad because the two scores were not balanced. Is this true!? Math is very hard for me!

That is a good score, but if you can retake it, I'm sure you would do better. Study up on the math, and good luck.
I think I got 600 on the math and 470 or the other??? It wasn't verbal though English and History or ...?,and we didn't have SAT work shops or get retakes. That was 1969. Ouch now I fell old, heck I am old. Our test was 1600 for a perfect score, and I think it still is because I've heard of a few select who have gotten it!!!

I took the SAT and got 1270 (670 verbal, 600 math). I wanted a higher score so I took it again and got 1330 (710 verbal, 620 math). Even though my second score wasn't much higher I felt better about it anyway. So I would say take it again if you want a higher score. By the way, didn't they change the scoring and include a writing section in the SAT now?

I got a 610 in both areas...exactly balanced and qualified for the honors program at my college (8 years ago...it may have gone up a little since then). 1320 is very good and I was told it was extremely rare for me to have gotten balanced scores! Congrats on doing so well and I wouldn't take it again unless you need higher scores to qualify for something like an honors program at a higher end college than I went. Find out the requirements or averages for the college or program you want to get into...go from there.

Yes you should retake the SAT, unless you want to go to a bad college. I got 2 perfect scores in math and reading, but my writing score was only 720, for a total of 2320. I only read this SAT guide, and that is how I got such high scores:

I recommend this guide to anyone seeking to get a higher score to get into a first choice college.

Back in the day, I earned a 1210 on the SAT and concluded that the score was more than adequate for colleges.

Now with this 2400 scale, maybe a 1800 or greater helps. How did you do on the 3rd part?

No, a 1320 is a great score!! You should be able to get into the schools you need.

Good luck

that's VERY good. I got around 500's on both and got into 2 of my 3 top choices (the #1 is very prestigious).

i think it's ok...maybe not great, but something u can work with. i would focus now on making sure u are well-rounded. be in many clubs, do sports or music or dance or drama, be in as many honors & AP classes as possible, and volunteer regularly somewhere like a hospital or retirement home.

This is a pretty cheesy way to brag about your score. You know you did good, why are you looking for reassurance here?
