If you learn to play on a classical guitar or steel sting acoustic guitar, playing on an electric guitar is easier because the strings are lower to the fretboard thereby needing less finger pressure to plunk out your notes. For anyone out there that wants to learn to play guitar, starting out on a cheapie acoustic guitar is the way to go.Get the chords learned, practice hard, have a ton of patience while learning(done in steps, not a curve),then if ya want go to electric. You'll find only then how much easier it is to play the electric and how much more diverse it is Take it from a guy that's been playing for 20 yrs.

Not in my opinion. Spanish and Falmenco style guitar is played on a nylon string acoustic guitar with your fingers. Electric guitar is steel strings played more ofthen than not with a pick. Wile I think that learning any style will give you a leg up in your overall prowess of the instrument, I don't think learning Spanish style guitar will suddenly make you an extra good electric guitar player.
I support learning any methd of playing your desired instrument as possible, but I don't think that there is one style of playing that encompasses everything.

well, yes and no...the point of learning guitar is getting your fingers flexible ( not literally flexible), but to be able to move from chord to chord...if you start of with spanish or electric, you'll do well hopefully, only practice alot...and another thing, chords tend to be different in spanish and electric, becuase for spanish guitars have 20 frets i think, while electric guitars have 21 or 22, so it makes a difference.

Classical guitar technique is great to know - it can be applied to electric guitar. The best players in the world have usually had some classical training.

no, not at all. Totally different techniques. Although, if you technique is good on accoustic, it will be great on electric. Spanish style is cool though, stick with it.
