I'm thinking about getting a tatoo but i don't know wot to get? I want something that symbolises overcoming fear. I have a personal problem that has controlled me for 5 years but i;m getting through it now, finally. It basically was fear. Any ideas?

With such a permanent thing as a tattoo, you shouldnt ask anyone what -you- like. Check out some local tattoo parlors and web sites. There are so many tattoo ideas there, and sometimes the tattoo artists can even draw one out for you. =) Here are some websites that you can look at for some ideas!

And this website can locate reputable tattoo parlors near you.

Goodluck finding a tattoo that you like! Remember, take your time deciding what to get, tattoo's are a lifelong commitment! =)

Edit: I also suggest that if/when you decide upon a tattoo, get it as a henna tattoo first so you can get a feel for it.

Not sure WHAT you should get, but I do have this suggestion: Whatever you decide to have tatooed, try to envision yourself with it at age 65, not your present age. What's seems appropriate for a 25 year old, may look a little ridiculous or embarrising when your older.

Just something to consider.

Before getting any tattoo PLEASE consider the following:
1) decide carefully, you will own this piece of art the rest of your life.
2) place somewhere you can cover it for personal or professional reasons.
3) NEVER tattoo anyone's name upon your body, even your own.
4) do some research-there are plenty of good artists out there but many more bad ones!

As for the tattoo itself; after conquering a huge fear myself, I had the serpents of St. Patrick (symbolizes rebirth, renewal) inked on my left ankle. Your piece should reflect you and your triumph!

Good luck!

Give your tattoo some serious thought. I have spoken to so many people that have regretted their tattoo decisions and then end up attempting to have them turned into something else, often with horrible results. I waited over a year once I had my design picked out, and I recommend a similar wait for anyone who wants to be truly happy with their tattoo. Don't be too hasty; a year isn't too long of a wait for something that will be with you forever. Just a thought.

Stars have a wide variety of meaning. Most stars simply symbolize - Truth/Honesty and Hope/Guidance - this meaning is portrayed in a pair of stars or Nautical stars somewhere symmetrically placed on the body or limbs. example- wrists, shoulders, upper arms, feet, etc. Hope this helps

first step..... locate a compitent artist,,,, and i mean an ARTIST..and not some person that just tattoos, they are everywhere.... and you are setting yourself up for bad work.
find a tattooer that paints, draws, etc....one who understands balance, depth, contrast, flow, composition , etc.......

ideas here is fine,,,, but in the end,,, the artist of your choice will be doing the work,,,, so he/she must be found first.

when found,,,give him/her your reasons for this piece of art.... work with him/her in creating a tattoo that will be one of a kind and mean what you want it to mean.

although the percentage of artists in the tattoo industry that are truely gifted artists is very low,,,,, they ARE out there,,, you have to weed thru them to find the good ones.

and do NOT make price your priority here.... again, you will be asking for really poor work.

good luck-

I would suggest not getting a tatoo. Years from now, it won't look as good, and you might regret the day you got it. My uncle got one when he was in the service years ago and now he hates it.

I'm not sure of your situation, but I was thinking of a conquering type of thing, like a small mountain top with a flag on it...sorry if that's not what you were looking for.
