Dress like it's casual Friday at work. Nothing formal but better than jeans & tee. Be prepared for any questions you'll be asked. Do not say more than is absolutely necessary and do not show emotion. They hate cryers or hysterics.
Take a deep breath, you'll be fine. You aren't on trial!

Slacks, nice sweater, flats are fine, you should look like a mom... :) You are not allowed to sit in the courtroom prior to your testimony, so you won't hear what else is going on. Nothing personal, they do that to all witnesses.
When you are called to testify whoever issued the supeona is the attorney who will question you first, so if you're a witness for the prosecution, the DA will question you first, then the defense attorney will cross examine you. The judge is also allowed to ask you questions, but they usually don't, they let the attorneys either do a good job or not (a lot of them don't question well at all.)
Best advice to a witness, if someone asks you what time it is, don't tell them how to build a clock! Your answer is "noon", and then you shut up! The more you talk, the more chance you have of saying something wrong. Answer the question....nothing more, nothing less. If there's something you want your side to bring up in court, tell them ahead of time, you can't bring it yourself once you're on the stand!
It'll be fine, don't stress, if you tell the truth you'll sleep just fine that night.

They could ask you anything, but are most likely to stick to the facts surrounding your son and your ex keeping him from you. You will not be in while others are testifying/speaking. Clothing, as mentioned in the other answers, would be more business casual, and flat shoes are fine. And also, answer only what is asked, and do ask for clarification on the question if you don't understand it before you answer it. Keep the emotions under control, and if there's something you think they could hit you with about your character/behavior, be ready for that. You're going in without an attorney, so a judge may go easier on you, but you don't want to be hit out of nowhere with something you haven't thought about how to explain.

it's baseball. you don't embellish and answer what they ask you. Don't dress like a slut. Each has a turn throwing questions and each has an opportunity to answer.
Talks: Judge, Prosecutor, Defense, Summations, verdict.
