I am not happy with my country at all. I probably feel the same way most people do about America and Americans. We say we are a free country, but we have so many laws we can hardly do anything without breaking one. I'm curious what you think.

I am not saying that I have it bad at all. I realize that the United States has it better than most countries. I'm not trying to compare it with any other countries. I do vote and care about what happens to my country, but I am only one person. I am just trying to get an outside view of what other people think.

Americans are human beings just like all of us in the world, good and bad. However I believe what gives the American people a bad name in the world is their arrogant bias governmet particularly the current Bush government. They tell the world who to be called a terrorist and who should be called a freedom fighter. They allow Israel to kill innocent people and drop bombs on others while if they retaliate others are called terrorists, Israel has the atomic bombs helped and supported by the Americans while anyone else wants to obtain the armaments for their defence they are terrorists. It is these double and hypocritical standards American government apply that gives the American people a bad name. Not to mention the media that is manipulated by the American government and used for their agenda. I just hope that the American people start taking their government into account before they take them to a big conflict against the rest of the world. God bless the American People!

Well I am American and I love America but I dont like to live there. I think alot of us Americans are cheeky and insensitive and could learn a thing or two from the Irish. That said I think Irish law is far to laxidaisy and they could learn a few things from the American law makers. When I agree sometimes in the states the laws can get a bit silly and are very easygoing for law men and politicians the little people often get no say. If you are a law abiding citizen then you shouldnt be concerned about the law to much. Personally I have never been arrested or commited a crime and the laws have never personally bothered me. If you are trying to live outside of the law though they can be rough but then again just by asking this question makes me assume you are a criminal.

I'm British and I've visited US several times. I've always been touched by the friendliness of a lot of the Americans I met. Some of them were really concerned that we went home with a positive experience. We've had drinks bought for us and even invitations to peoples homes. In the UK I think we have an image of Americans as being stupid or ignorant. Visiting the US gives a totally different impression. I've met some very intelligent, witty and generous Americans. Your foreign policy is very dodgy though!!!

Most Americans are good people, but alot of other countires think of us as unsohphisticated, impolite, rude and things along those lines. I am not happy with America not because of it's people but because of it's foreign policy that we as americans do not even have a say in. Our debt is almost $9 billion dollars rising $1.75 billion per day. Our is economy is going down and soon we will not be the worlds superpower. We are a free country. We have the right laws and millions of people dont break them. Only bad seeds do. We can do whatever we want. We even go into other countires and force democracy on them. So to conclude Americans are not the problem, America is.

I like America. Not all Americans are bad. After all there are over 270 million of them.
Canada could have been the BEST country in the World.
Canada could have had British Government, French Culture and American Industry.
Instead Canada ended up with British Industry, French Government and American Culture.
God Bless America.

America has problems just like every country and people group has problems.
I know that laws seem to be oppressive but many of those laws are designed to protect freedom (like if there were no laws against slavery people would be "free" to take away another person's freedom - also the right to free speech is a law so nobody is "free" to force anyone into silence). There is always going to be a balance between freedom and lawlessness.
I think the bigger problem in the country is a general feeling that we are entitled to too much. We take it for granted how good we have it when other societies are still living in huts.

I love America but I agree with you, there are problems. Keep in mind that you have the freedom to express your opinions here and in other places they would be knocking on your door by now. We need to work for a better America. We still need to 'create a more perfect union' by the people, for the people and of the people.
This year, I am going to vote for progressive Democratic candidates for office because I believe we need a change.
Last year I decided not to stand for re-election as a school board member because others wanted the job (thank God) and I believed other citizens needed a chance to serve their country. You should consider what you believe is best for the United States and become politically active. It can be fun, you can meet a lot of new people and you can make small changes.
Keep in mind, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. You can be corrupted if you are not careful.

I dont like to sterotype. I could never have a veiw of all americans in general, only the ones I have experienced. Your feeling about your freedom I think applys to most countries and you should count yourself lucky you were not born in a country that do not have so much rules that you have to walk down a street without the fear of bullets flying past your head everyday. I'm English and I live in Britain and I think sometimes we take for granted just how lucky we are. It is unfortunate that we dont control our laws but that is the path we take, if you feel strongly enough about something, you CAN do something about it ;- SPEAK.

If you hate America and Amercians so much, why not pack up and live in Iran, Iraq or Syria. Try a couple days in these conuntrys and let me know what you think about America.
Toooooo many people bleed and died for this freedom we have. Even with "so many laws" no one shot me last Sunday when I went to Church. No one makes my wife were black cloths that covers her face and body. In fact she is able to work and make her own decisions and she has worth.
No one makes me bow and worship a God in which I don't believe.
I get up go through out my days and no one questions what I am doing.
The society you seem to be wanting is one where you can just do as you please without accountablity. We are people and not animals. These laws keeps our society in order to a certain extent. It is also what separates us from the animals. You should be ashamed of yourself.
You want to see what freedom we have verses other countries try the website persecution.com.

I'm from the UK...
Normal, every-day American people I have no problem with. American government, foriegn policy and certain individuals (like Bush) I don't like. Mind you, I've never been and most of what I know is from news, films and imported telly programmes, so probably not in the best position to comment!
The handling of New Orleans after the hurricane was truly shocking tho. It really shocked me that one of the richest countries in the world cound't get its act together over something so devastating to so many of its own people.
Some great TV shows tho...
