There is no evidence to suggest that the fetus would be harmed by this.

In fact a 20 pound baby can even tolerate 20,000 mg of Vitamin C daily, with no ill effects.

The mother's body will filter out any excess Vitamin C before it reaches the fetus, and since Vitamin C is water soluable, any excess is not stored in the body.

The baby doesn't actually attach to the mother with the umbilical cord until around the 5th week so it didn't even touch the baby. Baby is just fine. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy!

During a pregnancy I would steer clear of any supplements without first checking with a doctor.

That said, vitamin C is generally pretty safe. It is a water soluble vitamin (versus fat soluble) so any excess is excreted through the urine.

They say that at the beginning of your pregnancy its not that critical so if you did something that you think might have affected the baby most likely the baby is fine. For example i didnt find out i was pregnant till i was in my 3rd month and i was smoking cigarrettes everyday. As soon as i found i out i quit and my baby's fine because im in my 7th month and so far she's healthy....
