Because we use it to make most of the things that we use every day, for example, if it weren't for organic chemists, there would be no plastics, fuels, vinyls, or many foods that we use or see every day.

Because chemistry in general and in particular organic chemistry are essential to pharmaceutical developments and of internal processes in general. The genesis of cancers is studied extensively by organic chemists due to the alkylation effects of many carcinogens on the nucleic bases.

Not trying to be a smart *** here but, if you are really a genius you shouldn't have to ask this question. If nothing else it will prove you have the discipline and the ability to adapt and learn a different way of thinking, categorizing and problem solving. A passing grade in a subject like this is worth more than a excellent grade in something like "underwater basket weaving".

Partly for knowledge, partly to help us in our own lives. It can not only improve medicine and health care but also provide us with ways of growing better crops and livestock and even using genetically modified organisms for other purposes (including cleaning up oil spills and finding land mines). It's quite a useful field, actually.

There's plenty of use for organic chem. In food science you learn about the reactions, and also, if you...alright, not necessarily you, but if any ladies are interested in the beauty industry, organic chem plays a big part in perfume too =)

Organic chemistry is a good starting poin for understanding those complex chemicals which are essential to and related with living processes. Seem a good reason to me.

Because it is critical to understanding medical science. Medical schools look at this grade more than any other, or so I am told. You don't HAVE to study it, but you will be much better off if you do. It is a difficult and complex subject, so study hard!

we need organic chem for many reasons, but i think the most important is medicine. Coming form some who is studing medicine, i can tell you that most if not all of our medical substanes deal with organic chem. With out organic chem we can not develop all the new drugs we are developing to treat and cure many of the devistating deseases that are out there.
