Apologies for suggesting this, but are you sure they are blueberries and not sloes, which are very sour?

It is about the right time for them, but if you are cooking them, it wont make any difference. Leave them in a bowl of apple juice overnight and then cook with them as usual. Add a small amount of extra sugar to the recipe and they will be fine.

ps blueberries left in a jar of syrup for a few days are LOVELY poured over pancakes, you can heat the syrup in the microwave!

yes try and leave them in the bush for a little longer! they should feel firm but a little soft! good luck with your pancakes! i love making blueberry muffins there the best!

when the berry becomes a dark blue it is ready if it is almost black it is over ripe but that is when it is the sweetest blueberrys are not real sweet to began with just add suger to your pie syrup will make your pancakes sweet
