im just trying to teach myself how to read tab, and i dunno what it stands for, and i thought if i did i met be able to understand it more, and well yeah

TAB=tablature. Six lines are shown, depicting exact finger placement on the guitar frets. The bottom line is the sixth string; the top line the first string.

O = open string, and the numerals shown on the lines indicate the fret in which you place a finger.

Although this method works great in playing a melody exactly as the composer wishes it to be played, it is no substitute to playing notation because tablature cannot carry all the incidentals of crescendo, decrescendo, note durations, etc.

tab is short for tablature... it's the six lines (one for each string) and which fret to press AND where in the song... it's kinda an easier way to read music without reading the notes, but it only works for guitar...

tabliture...basically, the lines correspond to the strings on your guitar and the number is which fret on the string

it probably won't help you. it stands for tablature.
