If you haven't divorced and get married again, it's against the law. Somehow people will find out and you may be in big trouble.

To be safe, do it legally. You'll feel free and ready for a new life.

Congratulations!

Was the marriage recognized in the United States by the federal or a state government? You really need to discuss this with a qualified attorney. I believe that if the marriage was legally recognized in the US by the federal or states then you will need to get a legal divorce to re-marry again or that would be bigmy in the US. Consult an attorney and have copies of your marriage certificate, tax returns, or any documents that presented you as married when you see the attorney.

In the United States divorce laws vary from state to state. If you are in the U.S. you will have to check with the state you live in to find out how they handle out of country marriages. More than likely you will have to have your marriage disolved in the country you were married in.

Whereever you are right now...you must get the marriage certificate first, then file from where you are.
