Actually as far as I am concerned good building Bricks do not absorb water.

This can be confirmed by an experiment:

Immerse a whole brick in a bucket of water for whole night. If it is a good brick then it remains as such the next morning, that is it has not absorb water.

On the contrary if the brick goes into powder the next morning which means that it has absorbed some water and got disintegrated, then that brick is not recomended for building purposes.

This the logic behind it my dear friend................!

I this a question for school? If it is you should really try to do your own
work as you learn much more that way.

Anyway you may try this experiment to help you:

1.Obtain a brick, a waterproof container large enough to submerge a brick,a scale and water.

2. Weigh your brick and write it down the value.

3. submerge the brick in water for 24 hours at least.

4. Remove the brick from the water an shake of any extra water.

5. Weigh the brick again and make a note.

6. The difference in weight is how much water the brick can absorb(Assuming the brick was saturated.)

I am assuming your would need a value stated in volume rather than weight....I'll let you figure that out on your own. This is not the only method of finding the absorption of water in a brick just what I first thought of.

The more brick, the more water. Also, the more absorbent the brick, the more water.
