This just shows how the left is so closed-minded when it comes to logic and smarts.

And how can they call themselves progressives?
I don't see anything progressive about constant obstructionism.

I am not a neoconservative, I'm a libertarian, so I'll let two leading neocons define themselves.
"[We] are conservative, but different in certain respects from the conservatism of the Republican Party. We accepted the New Deal in principle, and had little affection for the kind of isolationism that then permeated American conservatism."

Irving Kristol, in his 1995 book, Neoconservatism: The Autobiography of an Idea

"Neocons do not feel that kind of alarm or anxiety about the growth of the state in the past century, seeing it as natural, indeed inevitable ... People have always preferred strong government to weak government, although they certainly have no liking for anything that smacks of overly intrusive government."

Irving Kristol, "The Neoconservative Persuasion"

"I regard myself to have been a young Trostkyite and I have not a single bitter memory."

Irving Kristol, 1995

"(A) conservative welfare state ... is perfectly consistent with the neoconservative perspective."
Irving Kristol, 1983

"...[T]he United States has a fundamental choice to make in confronting rogue states, dictators developing weapons of mass destruction, and global terrorism: Either we act aggressively to shape the world and change regimes where necessary, or we accept living in a world in which our very existence is contingent on the whims of unstable tyrants."

William Kristol

"America's international role. What should that role be? Benevolent global hegemony. Having defeated the "evil empire," the United States enjoys strategic and ideological predominance. The first objective of U.S. foreign policy should be to preserve and enhance that predominance by strengthening America's security, supporting its friends, advancing its interests, and standing up for its principles around the world."
William Kristol, "Toward a Neo-Reaganite Foreign Policy.", 1996

"American power should be used not just in the defense of American interests but for the promotion of American principles."

William Kristol

"What makes us exceptional is that we stand for liberty, and that we are willing to fight for liberty. We don't need to "prove" we are different from the jihadists by bringing our own soldiers, if they have done something wrong, to justice. Of course we must and will do this. But our doing this "proves" nothing. Even if there were ten Hadithas, we would still not have to "prove" that we are "different from the jihadists." The idea would be offensive if it were not ludicrous."

William Kristol, Haditha Handwringing, 6/12/2006

"That is permissible, we answer, which really leads to the liberation of mankind."

Leon Trotsky, concurring with Kristol's "revolutionary morality."

I may be young, but as far as I can tell, the real tragedies in the history of this world have been rooted in born-into ideals and opposition/fear of change. If you are so secure with your beliefs and opinions, why are you constantly on the lookout for a fight? If your only defense is some juvenile name-calling and photo graffiti, than I really feel sorry for you...and the conservatives you are representing. If you want us liberals to take you seriously, try making a real argument.

Though I definitely in agreement that liberals are pretty much idiotic, I would love to see people on the right actually acting somewhat maturely. If at all possible. The only way to make our points and have them be effective is to do it in a way that is well researched and intelligent. They can spread their half truths and propaganda but if we come at them with actual proof, reliable resources, and smile.. it makes it that much more worth your while.

Check the history of the word? Do Cons really need to always live up for the past? Look at other words in the dictionary, most of them have different meanings.

I've always heard the term used derisively to describe the democrats who lean to moderate/conservative issues. It was frequently used to describe democrats who sided with Reagan. The phrase was popular throughout the 80's but of course fell out of popularity when Clinton became president. The phrase was coined to express frustration at the Democratic members of congress who voted with Reagan instead of along party lines.

It wasn't until I came to Answer that I saw NeoCon being used to decribe Republicans or Conservatives... it makes no sense really since Republicans and Conservatives have been always been "CON", there is nothing NEO about it.

"For monkeys to talk of reality is hubris of the optimum diploma. the place is it writ great that speaking-monkeys ought to have the potential to type the cosmos? If a sea urchin or a racoon have been to propose to you that it had a practicable reality with regard to the universe, the absurdity of that fact may be self-obvious, yet in our case we make an exception." -Terrance Mckenna

Neo-Con. Meaning neo-conservative. Not any type of liberal.

I know reading is a challenge to you, but you may want to get one of your moderate friends (if you have any) to read to you the definitions that the rest of the world is using.

All the ideological cover stories Neoconservatives write are not what really motivates them. They are pansies who like to get raped by economic bullies--Swishy Swastikers.
