Unfortunately, you will not only void your warranty if you change your pipes, you will have a difficult time dialing in the air/fuel management system. One of the nice things about HD warranties is that they will not void your suspension coverage for modifying your pipes. They may void engine components however. EPA and CARB have really cracked down on the 2007 models. Hey, you like that 96 upgrade with the 6 speed? Dealers have been ordered not to make modifications the exhaust systems any longer. Whether they do or don't will be interesting to see. Don't fret yet, I am sure the aftermarket industry is working on new ideas.

At this moment there is technically no exhaust system out there for 2007, but Screaming Eagle will be releasing their mufflers by October for the new models. Of course the after market suppliers will be having something out if not already. With the new models you are supposed to not to have to "remap" the bike at all, This means no stage I air cleaner or anything. You should be able to put on the mufflers and go. As for warranty, I do this also at the dealership I work at, it is supposed to be street legal exhaust approved by Harley to keep your warranty, but if you get along with your dealership they should work with you. If you travel, break down, and have after market exhaust then it might be a different story.

I just went through the up grade. If you have an injected model, then you need a power commander or fuel pak PC unit, also you will need to change the air filter to a mass flow, like a K&N air filter, then change the exhaust. They recommend running it on a dyno. If you do this it will keep the warranty in tact. I just bought the 06 HD Softail Standard, they had a problem with all the 2006 computers being set to lean.

Make sure your gas mix is correct.

The only way aftermarket voids the warranty is if the replacement causes the damage that the warranty work is for. So if you change the pipes and have a front fork problem they should not claim it is not covered. The burden of proof is on them, do not let them tell you they the warranty is voided until they prove your modification did it.

Harley Davidson offers performance mufflers that are street legal in 50 states. There is a caution stating that it MAY affect warranty.

You have to get it done at the HD dealer and buy HD parts and get the ECU reprogrammed and get a new air filter and it all has to be installed and done by an HD Tech at the dealership otherwise it voids your warranty.

I have heard some dealers say that but In 20years of riding I have never seen it happen. Hell, alot of the dealers put on aftermarket exhaust before they even put the bike on the showroom floor.

In general yes - however just make sure you get a genuine HD pipe and no aftermarket crap.
If you do this for more power - you got to go much more than just changing the pipe - however you might be doing it just for the sound....... then get a pair of "Screamin Eagle"........
