Yes - I have very irregular periods as well. I am the mom of two and would love to have a third but it has been hard.
My suggestion would be to have intercourse often - every other day for a period of three weeks or so.
Although I am not taking my own advice and maybe that is why I am not conceiving - LOL
Good luck!!

I actually got pregnant with my last kid when I wasn't having a period. I went 6 months without a period and on my 3rd month I got pregnant. My doctor told me I could still get pregnant because your body still ovulates. And if I wanted a period he could give me a pill for it to make me start. Also there is a pill the doctor can give you to help you conceive. I'm not sure what the name is but the doctor and I did discuss it at one time because I was trying to conceive.

You may need to go on the pill for a few months to get your periods to normal. Have your doctor run a blood test to check your hormone levels. The most common problem among women that have irregular periods is a hormonal imbalance, and it can cause miscarraige if not diagnosed (Especially if it is low progesterone).

You should try regulating your cycles first with the doctor help of course and then once they are regulated you could start trying/or you can use a site called mymonthlycycles.com to document all of your cycles and they can kind of give you a guesstimate.

Forget about your period and focus on your ovulation and have sex on or about that time. Let your husband's sperm count grow until then, that way he has a better sperm count when you do have intercourse.
