A good statement of purpose for graduate school admissions usually runs between 2-3 pages. Some schools place strict requirements on length, so please check the standards for each school to which you are applying.

It depends on what the statement of purpose is for and the guidelines. For example, if you are writing for a scholarship, generall the length should be 1-2 pages. When I write a statement of purpose or "personal statement" I do a maximum
of two pages. If its not specified, your best bet is to stick to the maximum 1-2 pages!

When applying to graduate school, the admissions board will require a statement of purpose that details your reasons for choosing the school and the field of study. It is one of the most important essays you will prepare in your application so take your time and put your best foot forward.
1
Explain your proposed course of study. Instead of a generalized view, be specific. By this time in your educational career, you should know the direction you want your studies to take.

2
List your reasons for wanting to pursue that line of study. Your application needs to stand out among thousands received by other hopeful students. The committee is looking for passion and purpose in choosing your major.
