IT'S GREAT!!! I've been a so-called 'fashion victim' for many years and am now 26. However, i always take pride in my appearance and always receive comments on how good i look from both men AND women.
There's no harm in pre-teen girls copying the fashion sense of their icons and you'd probably think they were slightly abnormal if they didn't. However, the time to start getting worried is if they even start thinking about dieting down to a size 4. Victoria Beckham has a lot to answer for...!

Well, i guess it is normal thing like Levi jeans used to be in.
But u got to teach em, fashion is not everything, a good
positive mind is and it doesnt matter what u wear that makes
the person.
Fashion can be expensive, so if u are on a tight budget,
a thrift store in your area has the fashion names on them
for dirt cheap.
Whether it is new or used, it all came from the earth and been
through right many hands at a sewing factory.

I think the word victim gives away the fact that it is bad. Anything that someone is a "victim" to or has some form of addiction to can be detrimental to one's well being and quality of life. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good or in style, but if it becomes an obsession, I believe it's unhealthy.

Fashion as long as it is in the boundaries of being decent is good. But if it goes beyond home allocated budget, goes beyond decency, too much of the body is being shown instead of being covered (well that's what clothing is for- to cover the body isn't it?) and if fashion is the number one priority then it is not good. At least make sure that your granddaughters enjoy their youth by not looking unattractive and perhaps a visit to a salon or a dress shop who can give tips and advice on how they can accentuate their physical appearance and tips what clothes are suited for them, etc. They should have at least a sense of belonging but not to the point of compromising their youth- yunesa@yahoo.com

It is not unhealthy and it is fairly normal. Most girls that age are very insecure and they need to fit in, fashion is one way to do that. Let them be. Seriously, what is a grandpa going to be able to do about it anyway? They wouldn't listen to you. Just leave them.

Teenagers are desperate to belong to a "clique" and if they are seen as unfashionable, it may result in ostracism or bullying. Personally, I'd tell them it's ok to belong but as they get older, it becomes more important to have their own style. Grown women would be embarrassed if they turned up at a party wearing the same as another woman! Help them find their own style.

Sounds pretty normal. There`s a lot of pressure to fit in at that age for boys/girls..and of course it`s natural to try and attract the opposite sex,try stopping them.I`m lucky with my teenagers..but my eldest daughter does like shopping and looking at clothes.

Totally normal if you are a teenager, a bit sad over 25 unless you have the figure to carry it off and completely sad and unforgivable if you are over 40!

Is bad cos they are victims!!
Seriously, though, it's okay, all teens go through it, as long as they don't mind going to Primark and high street stores and occasionally, a few choice items from more expensive places (but reserved for longer term items!!).
