why would America do that? America has nothing against Cuba or the Cuban people.... America Has had a problem with your leader Castro.... if he dies... the problem may go away.... and we could possibly have a decent relationship with Cuba again...so actually it is the reverse that would / could happen when he dies...America is not your enemy.... we have taken in so many Cuban refugees and we sympathize with the Cuban people! so please do not worry...

I live in Miami and come from a Cuban-American household and I can say that a lot of the Miami-Cubans want us to go over there and take over (not attack) once Fidel dies. No one will ever really know what this country will do until it actually happens. In my opinion it will be a time of turmoil for the country and for US cities with large Cuban-American populations.
I have heard that the US polititians have a committee set up working on the "US response" to the fall of Castro. What I hope is that this country makes smart decisions and that Cubans from the island and from the US do the same... for the sake of all of us. Cuba was once a thriving place... I hope that one day it will be that way again.

I'm Canadian so I have been to Cuba in recent years - the last time was about two years ago. I really don't think that the US would attack Cuba. I don't think the international community or the American people would allow that to happen. Lots of US citizens travel to Cuba now, and they all know that there is no need for the animosity between the two governments (I say governments, because I don't think there is animosity between the two peoples). When there are more futuristic and humanitarian leaders in both countries (since each country has to accept some blame for the current situation) the issue will resolve itself.

The relationship between the US and Cuba is only most likely to improve when Castro dies. In fact, the embargo and travel restrictions will probably start to be lifted, and Cuba might get out of the 1950's.

Fidel Castro put his son in control of the country, so even if he dies, Cuba will still be ruled by a Castro dictator, so stop making mountains out of molehills. That a people who have suffered poverty to the extent you folk have, and don't want to end such a cycle is beyond understanding. Is it just because you don't want american tourists?

Why would the US bother? The simple answer is that the governments of communist countries, like Cuba, have always justified their repressive regimes by alleging that other countries, especially the United States, are preparing to attack them.

The USA is prepared to embrace the Cuban people. The problem is not the US, but Castro.

castro hates the US. so it would be good thing for them if he died. i doubt the us would have enough of an army left to attack a fly after the war on iraq and the only reason they would is to turn cuba democratic. a communist nation so close to american shores is dangerious to them.

It's possible but i think Bush said that if the people in Cuba are happy with the government (communism) then he won't attack.
