Our President is the only highly qualified person in the world comparing to other leaders of the world. He had started his life from the humble beginning and reached this highest status. A simple living scientist and a teacher still, he inspires younger generation to 'dream' as dreams only bring about the imagination to achieve the goal for planning and implementing. Definitely, our country will be a totally developed country by 2020. Think about the earlier times, our transporation style, consumer articles, education level, invention level, practice of medicine etc. Our Doctors are working all over the world. Our teachers are most preferred lot in UK. Our culture is the best in the world. Our tradition and customs are the best. The Hare Krishna movement and most of the foreigners prefer to visit India. The second point is that the medical treatment is the cheapest in the world with the services of a developed country. In nuclear energy we are second to none. Productionwise, we are producing the best in the world. Of all, Indians are the well behaved people in the world, so docile and law abiding and show kindness to others. There is no doubt that we are progressing very rapidly in every sphere and our country will emerge as the most developed nation. Take the example of our Prime Minister. He is the only Prime Minister - a political leader with the highest qualifications. Rest in the world are just leaders with other oratory skills and with some knowledge and influence. With the President and a highly qualified Prime Minister defenitely our country will emerge as the most developed nation by 2020 or even before that. You take my word for that and ask me that time (we both wish to remain alive to remember the promise).

India will never become a developed country before 2030, for the
following reasons:
1. The current leaders being corrupt
2. The genes of these leaders are out already
who will then do the same corrupt practices for themselves.
3. The reservation rows will be at its' peak, just watch these new breed of greedy leaders.
4. There will be only Zero IQ possessing persons running the Govt.
5. There will be street fight all over for jobs
6. All the Multinational Companies will run away fron India.
7. The Judges will also get corrupted and make quick money.
8. There will be Doctors and Engineers from the Reserved category.
9. All the Bridges, Buildings, Airports, would get crushed as lesser qualified built (persons) these.
10. These would be millions of pateints, with primary illness dead in the hospitals, because of the incompetent doctors.
11. Aeroplanes and Trains would get crashed on hourly basis because of these (reserved category) highly incompetent persons, occupying all the posts.
12. These appointed persons would damage all the factories and plants, because of such persons getting appointed in all companies.
13. There will be floods all around because of such persons' knowledge and bursting of all the dams, where these persons are appointed.
14. There will be riots all around for having such persons at important places like administration, police, and other para military forces.
15. People like Kalam are just like Voyeures, who has no powers and cannot perform. He, even, do not have guts to resign on important issues like MPs taking bribes from every body, and the parliament is protecting them at all the costs. Had he resigned, after making all the allegations to the Government, the country's destiny, wolud have been different and the people would have revolted to through out the Vorrupt Ministers and MPs.
16. There is a nuxus and criminal understandind between all the Leaders that there will be no prosecution of any opposition MP or Minister even he is proved to be corrupt. Like LK Advani,Dr Joshi, Uma Bharati, Vinay Katiyar, Kalyan Singh, PV Narsimha Rao- mastermind of Babri Masjid demolition and killing of thousand innocents; Gujarat Riots; Lalu Yadav; MPs taking bribes on camera; Coffin scam; Parliament attack; Mulayam Gangs lords getting/ taking commission from Industrialists etc.
any many more incidents related to the above mentioned examples.

With growth rate of about 8%, and an vibrant business community President of India has rightly observed that India will become a developed country by 2020.
Political system will not be obstacle. Politicians cannot harm the country if other pillars of democracy(press, judiciary and bureaucracy) functions properly. Divergent views are strength not weakness.

I think it is already developed, to a degree.
By 2020 it's economy will be stronger, but it's social welfare and infrastructure will not equal that of the West. It already has a large service sector in it's economy though. Culturally it is changing due to market economic change and the extended family network is not as central nowadays, so it's Westernising and 'advancing'...and has been a democracy for some time (cf political status).
The answer might depend on what you mean by "developed" in the first place.

Ofcourse Mr A P J Abul Kalam is not a man who'd bluff, But developed like what? Like America and or European countries? or like former Soviet Union where people would have to stand in a long qeues for buns. Or developed in its own unique third way with 30 crores living below poverty line and crores struggling for water potable or not and walking miles befor dawn to fetch a pot.I think Our President should take implementation of part 1v of the constitution on war footing.

the vision is good. we can surely achieve this provided the same mindset is continued in the future politicians and presidents of India.
Mr. Kalam has given us a vision. It depends heavily on his successors to carry it forward to achieve it.
