I was given a test the other day and on the test was ONE WORD. That word was WHY? Could you give me the answer?

Oh and by the way I already turned it in just so it wouldn't be cheating and I made a A+. So letts see who gets an A+ like me.

Thanks

"Why not?"

There is a simple answer to your question, in fact, and that is to not answer at all. Choosing not to reply is just as effective, at times, as not replying at all.

But, just for fun, I would reply with the last stanza of "The Tiger":

Tyger, Tyger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Of course, then I'd feel too pretentious, and jot down a little line from "Mein Heir", a song from Cabaret:

You have to understand the way I am, Mein Heir.
A tiger is a tiger, not a lamb, Mein Heir.
You'll never turn the vinegar to jam, Mein Heir.
So I do, what I do.
When I'm through, then I'm through.
And I'm through -- tootle-oo.

And, then, after that, I'd feel like a man-whore, so I'd throw the whole thing away and punch the jerk who asked the question.

It would all be much simpler if I hadn't replied at all....

Why is there still hunger despite global humanitarian efforts? Why is it that ceaseless supply of goods never satisfies the consumers' demands?
Why is there neverending war despite peace treaties and intervention from United Nations?
Why are there still so many questions about God's existence despite having full details for reference in the Bible?
Why are people succumbing to diseases despite medical advances?
Why does education claims to be the means of bridging income gap but it never really did?
Why are humans still so divided despite the emergence of globalisation and the Internet?
Why do people still smoke even though they know it's bad for health?
Why do people still use unrealistic magazine pictures as a gauge of real beauty?
Why do movies always need a resolution or a happy ending?
Why is racism still practised even though humans claimed that the issue was resolved?
Why do people still crush balls of paper and waste them thoughtlessly even though environmentalists have harped on recycling?
Why does generation gap persists over the years in every family?
Why do people fall for that one million dollar lottery prize even though they know the probability of winning is really really low?
Why are we compelled to upgrade to newer versions of computer software programmes despite having no complaints about the current programmes that we are using?
Why are Jews constantly suffering throughout the course of human history?
Why are women bogged down with even more chores and duties despite fighting so hard for feminism?
Why do countries continue to channel funds into improving military weapons when they've seen enough atrocities and loss of human lives in the past world wars?
Why???

No your question doesn't have a simple answer. This is because every one takes the the word 'why' and makes it into something new. Some might say 'because', and other might say it in some long paragraph, other might not understand the question.

Because God has put us all on this planet for a reason. Every living creature has a purpose. Whether it is a tree providing us with oxygen, cows providing us with milk, or bees providing us with honey. Philosophy gives us hope. We believe in ourselves that we can release our inner strength and make something wonderful out of ourselves. Purhaps even turn ourselves into something beautiful that we never even knew we had the capability of turning into.Like the ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan, we too can become something absolutely beautiful.

Why not.

That was a question on one of my finals in University about twenty years ago. It was an essay question and I wrote a whole load of crap about why are we here. I found out later that only one person in our class of probably 300 got it right. Oh well, I still passed the course!

To me, the "Why" applies to quest on "Essence" of our existence and everything that directly and indirectly links to it.it is the approach for gaining the required knowledge, regardless of your spiritual faith.

One can write book(s) on this subject, which obviously this is not a place for it. Thus I suggest to go to the library, grab several spiritual books, and start reading. That would be a good start for you.
