You see you get a mummy-person and a daddy-person who love eachother very much and they like to hug in this special extra-close way. And this special sort of hugging can impregnate the mummy-person and then the mummy-person carries a baby in her tummy for 9 months.
When the baby is born the third person comes along.
The mummy-person and daddy-person both come from their own mothers, and their mothers came from their grandmothers back as far as recorded history allows.
