Do the math. How high in orbit does it need to be in order to not be in the shadow of the earth? Now, how big does it need to be in order to be able to capture the light you want and reflect it back?
Now, how heavy does it need to be in order to be this big? How powerful does the rocket need to be --or how many smaller rockets would be needed -- to lob that huge heavy object in space, and assemble it?

How to you keep it in station so that it does not provide illumination in the wrong place by being missdirected (objects in space drift, and require position keeping rocket to maintain position).

Now, add the cost of all of those, and compare with the cost of street lamps. I would say price would be in the several billion times more. Hey, if it comes out of YOUR pocket, I am all for it. Don't ask ME to finance it though.

If it was always light out, animal's sleep cycles would be affected. Life developed with both day and night.

Plus, we'd never get to go out to a dark spot and look at the stars and that would be a loss.

There already is something like that, it's called the moon, and it reflects a portion of the sun's light.

Would you really want it to be light all the time?

Likely reason, most that it will do is put spy cameras that will keep track of every single human alive and shoot lazer beams at us if we are out of place. Better idea, carry a flashlight with you.
