G'day Brian Macnikon,

Thanks for your question.

It was in fact Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

The main riff of the song has become a popular football chant of A.S. Roma, Bruges F.C., Hibernian F.C. and Heart Of Midlothian F.C. as well as a staple at sporting events. Italian football fans often chant the song's signature bass riff, most notably during Italy's victory in the FIFA World Cup 2006. It is also the song used to greet Italian star Francesco Totti as he led the fans of AS Roma in a chant after a match. Some 10 million Italians were supposedly singing the song across the nation the night following the championship game. The after-Cup success of the track led it to a second Italian Top Ten entry, peaking to #3.

I understand that there were additional words attached by fans ""Cam-pio-ni del mon-do ! Cam-pio-ni del mon-do !". There was also a version with Italian commentary

I have attached some sources for your reference.

Regards
