Any great football anecdotes?

Packers and Vince Lombardi.
After a lousy first half, nothing went right, and he spoke to the players at half time.

He held up a football. "Now, THIS is a football!"

I think it was Ray Nitshki, (spelling)?, held up his hand.
"Coach, slow down, you're going too fast!"

Another time, a player was out all night.

"I hope that piece of a** was worth $500.00."
A lot of money back then.

George Balnda, playing for the Cihicago Bears, had a lousy first half.
In the huddle, he called a running play. The fullback said, "Don't give to me,George, give it to him."
He then called a pass. The receivers said, "No, don't throw it to me George. Why don't you throw an interception?"

I knew him with the Houston Oilers.

That's classic. I still love the scene which will proably live as one of the biggest reasons to bring back Instant Replay, yeah I know it was brought back. The Steelers and I don't remember who they were playing. The opponent missed a field goal at half. Well then the ref said that there were too many men on the field for the Steelers. Cowher had his men go line up to see who messed up, remember he was a former special teams coach, and only counted 11. Took a time out and was yelling at the ref about it. Well of course the opponents got the field goal on the retry. Then the half and the CLASSIC moment. Even if Cowher says he isn't too proud of this I say it really defines him defending his players. During the time out he had a pic sent down that showed he only had 11 men on the field. Ran out at the half and stuffed it in the refs from chest pocket and then just ran into the locker room.

Once there was a kid whose parents were getting divorced.
The judge asked the kid: Do you want to live with your father?
The kid said: No, he beats me!. Do you want to live with your mother? The kid said: No, She beats me too!
Then the judge said: Well who do you wanna live with!?
The kid answered: The Chicago Bears, they never beat anybody!
