I am going to get my ear lobes pierced soon but my ears have always been sensitive. Does anyone know any topical anesthetic other than Emla(sp?) that I can just spray or rub on my ear that won't let me feel it? (At least not alot)

If you do it yourself, clean the lobe first with some rubbing alcohol, and then numb with an ice cube for about a minute. If you're getting them done professionally I suppose you could use some Oragel, put it on your ears before you get them done, and by the time they sterilize your lobes and pierce your ears they should be numbed. I don't know the exact allotted time for the numbing to appear, I would say many 10 or 20 minutes. Just don't goop it on.

First of all I saw someone said to drink first...don't all that will do is make you bleed, alcohol thins the blood. Anyway...the pain isn't that bad and if you use a topical anistetic it will only hurt more when it wears off. You would be better off just doing it without an anistetic. I hope you are going to a professional piercer and not the girl at the mall...Piercing guns are not sterile and can spread diseases and cause infections, in addition to that the earing they jam into your ear is too dull to properly cut into human tissue and will be more painful then a professional needle piercing. Piercing needles are specially designed to go through human tissue and therefor do less tissue damage and hurt less.
Good Luck

ear lobes hardly hurt at all i got my pierced like three times twice was just at the claire's at the mall i'm not sure about anesthetics but if you get them pierced more than once maybe sometimes try it without the anesthetics because it really doesn't hurt very bad at all

By federal law only a doctor can give you numbing medication before any procedure.
