I asked this before but did not get answer. Is anyone aware of this Marvel saga. It requires heros to unmask for security reasons! Peter Parker publically unmasked as did IronMan while Captain America and others refused. Whats happening with this? I feel unmasking the heros BIG mistake but I want to know whats happening anyone reading? Is saga over? Is it resovled? etc etc

Hmmm. there were a number of responses to your original question, guess they didn't cover the current events?

It's a limited series, currently on issue #4 (it also has crossovers in every major Marvel title, naturally) but you don't need to read all of the side-books like Avengers, Hulk, Fantastic Four etc. to follow the main story- just get the Civil War books themselves. I belive it's slated to run 7 issues but might get extended longer.

As of last issue, clear sides have been drawn. Peter Parker was the first to unmask and now is being sued by the daily planet, the Hulk has been exiled to another planet, Captain America is a fugitive, longtime friends are at each others throats and the heroes who support the government wanted Ben Grimm to publicly join them, because he'd be an important symbol to the rest of the hero community. But ol' Ben said he's not gonna betray his ideals and his friends. But he also won't break the law- so he's renouncing his citizenship and leaving the country.

Marvel Civil War is better undoubtedly. The Civil War has action, plot, and characters people actually like and want to read about. 52's big thing is a world w/o superman, batman, and wonderwomen. A DC world w/o them is like Cartoonnetwork without cartoons! Also, the first 15 weeks of 52 are about Booster Gold , who by the way is the most annoying character ever!

Still not finished. I agree with you, I think it is a terrible mistake for the heros to give up one of their biggest advantages, anonymity, even though it comes with big headaches.

In the real world, the government would never tolerate unlicensed law enforcement. Perhaps if there had never been superhero comics, the government would eventually have had some costumed public figures solely for publicity and morale. Those might ahve in turn inspired som others to fight crime. Who knows, it might have turned out something like Watchmen.

If there were real heros, the government would probably brand them as terrorists for conveninece and hunt them down. It would give them a lot more good press than hunting actual terrorists overeseas, and if I personally were a hero, I would volunteer to go help hunt the terrorists overseas.

I doubt that there would be any real heros with super powers, though. You might find some with implants, some with gadgets, etc. I could see possibly a few with some kinds of limited powers but the raw energy that would take, flowing through one's body, would be very unstable and would probably drastically reduce the hero's lifespan. Sort of like Strikeforce Morituri.

[A LONG, long time ago, there was a letter to the editor about the Legion of Super Heros, indicating that there actually were three kids who corresponded to Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy. The girl could guess the cards in an esp deck right about twenty times out of twenty five, the next guy had some sort of degenerative nerve disease that enabled him to give people static shocks when he touched them, and the third guy had a magenetic field in his body that was ten times what other people had, but the best he could do was pick up paper clips. I suspect that this is about the highest power level that mortal human beings are actually able to achieve. That's what I meant.]

Civil War #4 will be coming out in September and #5 in November..you could probably pick up Civil War #1,2, and 3 in a local comic shop or an online comic shop. #1,2, and 3 might be hard to find but they came out with second printings so if you just want to read and not collect you probably will have a better chance getting your hands on the second printings. If you happen to live by a comic shop stop in and ask if they have the free civil war sketchbook because in the back it lists all the books in the civil war series.

Captain America unmasked and gave away his identity on public television after 9-11 in the Marvel Universe. This story has many fundamental flaws in character like this.
But it is selling well and that is all that matters to the corporate masters at Marvel.

Still in the middle of the series. Issue 4 (of 7) is coming out soon. The unmasking is because Irom man's side wants the government to work with heroes, and have them trained and licenced so theres no recklessness.
Cap's side is against this because they feel its against the "ethics and codes" superheroes

Thanks for the 10 points, please.

This is a 7 part comic series. It is at comic 4 comining out soon. The superheroes just had a battle and Captain America is recruiting help. You can still pick it up for about $4 a comic at a comic book store.

I didn't know the details, but i think it is stupid. Part of the deal with Superheros is our knowledge of their secret idenity. Why wear a disguise if everyone knows peter is under the suit.
