My PS2 looks like crap on my new 42" LCD HDTV. I have the component cables, changed the output to "component," but it still looks bad, almost "super nintendo-ish." I've set the aspect ratio to 4:3, which is a little better, but I'd like to take advantage of the 16:9 without sacrificing quality. What else can I do? I don't want to spend the money on another system, but I thought the PS2 would look better than it does.

Have to upped the screen resolution???

Okay go into the televising/monitor settings and look for adjustments for sharpness, contrast, and brightness. On my TV there's adjustments for different warmth's too, like cold, and warm, kinda like a washing machine. I've set my sharpness high, contrast about 75% and brightness about 60%. After I did that my PS2 looked a whole lot better. If these don't help ya I'd suggest going to the store or the manufacture to get the dead on best settings. I wish ya all the luck my friend!!!
