You should be able to plug it in as soon as you get it home. I have never had a problem with any refrigerator or freezer when I plugged it in right away.

if it was kept standing, you don't have to wait, if it was laying down during transport wait 24 hours for the oil to settle back into the crankcase

When I brought mine I was told to leave it 24hrs before switching on.
