He has made so many out-right absurd comments, and he cannot even get cars cleaned up off the side of the road with tens of billions of dollars to do so. Lets get someone in there who can actually do something right.

Nagin was re-elected so the people of NO will have to live with him another 4 years.

His racist deflection of blame for his personal incompetence is ugly. His disregard for human life is criminal, instead of being indicted he gets re-elected, I thought staff like that only happened in the old days of Chicago.

The feds have approved billions of dollars in aid but Nagin has only received a mere fraction of that because he doesn't have a plan in place and doesn't have people dedicated to filing the proper forms to get the money. All it takes is a simple plan being filed for how the money will be used. That is in place to coordinate resources and prevent fraud and misspending of funds.

He spent the time between hurricane seasons, October to June, focusing on his reelction and NOT on a viable shelter program or workable evacuation plan. NO is lucky the hurricane season has been so slow this year, we can only hope it remains so.

But Nagin has again failed the city of NO by failing to take basic steps to get the allocated funds. He wants the money in a lump sum without oversight or control.

The reason for the unacceptable progress on rebuilding and cleaning New Orleans, just like the deaths of so many of it's citizens, rest squarely on Nagin's shoulders. (Although Blanco also has culpability for the deaths through her inaction and inability to function in a disater.)

Actually, Congress has approved the money to go to Louisiana, but the state has not seen any of it yet. As far as the comments are concerned, yeah, he may have said some things that he probably should've kept to himself, but you gotta understand how frustrated everyone is over there. A whole year later, and people still can't return home. May I suggest that you watch the new Spike Lee documentary on HBO? It's called "When the Levies Broke". After you see it, you will realize that there is still so much work to be done, and without proper funds to do so, it feels like a hopeless situation. In the meantime, if you feel he's not doing anything right, you can always have a fundraiser to donate money to the state, so that they can at least get the ball rolling, so to speak, instead of complaining about what he's not doing without even knowing all of the facts first.

I know they people of NO they got a free ticket to another state, and all this money to live some where better, I wouldn't go back either. Now here in Texas some of the schools are losing funding b/c the children from NO can't pass the basic skills test, My child got kick out of school last year b/c he say he didn't;t want to sit by a "brown" child, even thought they knew this child was picking and hitting my child, they kick him out of school for 2 days. The told me i need to understand that he was from NO. I ask well why was he allowed to pick on my son, they couldn't give me an answer. Also to tell NYC they still have a whole in the ground that wasn't done by and act of God. .

I totally disagree -Like it or not ,Mayor Ray Nagin has emerged from Hurricane Katrina as one of the best-known political figures in the US, and hopefully," the mayor of the year" with even a higher international profile than most Congressmen and state governors.- I don't care if other political opponent are intimidated by his outspokenness or just plain jealousy,- In my opinion ,this gentlemen is telling the world "as is" in new Orleans- he had repeatedly expressed his determinations and the bottleneck -bureaucracy that is slowing things down.. you cant blame him for the delay.....and his message has not changed.-- I've seen an unknown female politician trying to take jabs at him...I would very much like to see this aspiring gentlemen in the US Senate very soon....now tell me...why would you kicked him out...is it because is African America? ...

Hey, they had the chance to change management this year and with 8 candidates the voters chose him! Now they can suffer the consequences, I just hope the federal money that is MY money and every other citizen's money never gets there for the corrupt politicians to go through it like hogs at the trough. New Orleans will never see any good from it.

I agree. He likes to play the race card to cover up for his inability to run the city and take care of problems. To include that i think he is a racist! How can he get away with making a statement that New Orleans needs to be a chocolate city again. What that hell is all that about?

The problem is that he really is becoming the "face of N.O." and that isn't good. Instead of thinking of it as the "Pearl of the Gulf", people are starting to think of it as the "armpit of the gulf".

Let's face it the citizens of THAT CITY elected him.

I don't want any money of mine spent there while he is in office.

And why are there so many other cities that have made such greater accomplishments in their recovery while N. O. has made such small steps?

Nagin is a lame brain, anyone who will blame everyone but himself for that disaster should be shot. Remember the buses that sat under water? Ohh he didn't have drivers! what a joke. wait...every body to the super dome!!!!

The folks of colour put his sorry @ss back in because they will never vote out a brother, to bring in a cracker! They have to live with that decision, unfortunately, so do the progressive citizens of New Orleans.

I agree with you, but apparently the citizens of New Orleans (or at least those who bothered to vote) disagree. They just re-elected him a few months ago.
