I joined a company two months back which opened a new office in India..I am one of their first employees and the company is just 3 months old in India. We are a small team and a good one. But the issue is now, I have another offer from another company offering more than 80% over my current salary.

I am not in love with my existing company for not to consider the new offer, but some where in me I am soft in ignoring human values and consider it unethical to dump my existing company.

But the main issue is, that, iam just building my career and it will be a bumper to start with a good big pacakage (the new one) so that I can set a market value for future.

Folks! help me with this rather difficult decision!!!!

You have more to consider than ethics. Often being one of the first employee's of a new venture, office, etc. pays big divedends if the venture is successful. Look at how Microsoft's first employee's made out. Also, is the offer from the other company legitimate, do they want you for the long term or are this a strategic move on their part to torpedo the new venture - in which case you're new job won't last long. You also need to consider how future employers will feel about your histroy of changing jobs so quickly. So while ethics is a good and valid consideration here, once you're past ethics you'll still have a lot of things to consider. 'Go placidly amid the haste and the noise.'

Just remember one thing ... The company you work for now will get rid of you when the need is gone... No hard feelings ... And money is nice but if that all it's about , nothing you do will ever make you happy ... So it's a moral question ... Make the money now in life and enjoy it when you retire. By then nobody would care about something that happened back in 2006 ... Good luck
Beside as much as your company would like you to believe they have ethic...guess what. They don't .. It's not about them it's about you.

There is nothing unethical about resigning to take a better offer. You might want to make sure that the work environment at the new workplace is a good one for you first, rather than making the move just for the money.

Good luck!

Think of it like this: If the company you are currently working for could get the same amount of work done with the same quailty and detail to work as your 'small team' does now, but with fewer people. They would.

As long as you give your present company 2 weeks notice it should be fine. You need to think about yourself first.
