I mean I don't have a hissy fit every time I'm called a honkey and hear trailer park jokes but if you say something true like "why are blacks more promiscuous or more likely to be on government assistance" they get angry & call me "yous a homo"???

Darling, people in general get offended and defensive when you say something negative about them, even if it is true. That is just human nature.

Read the answer given by A Christians Honest Question; she speaks the truth. Where I live, I see promiscuity, drug addiction, people more interested in getting/ maintaining government assistance rather than getting a decent job (which not only puts food on the table but sets an example for your children that you should go out and create your own opportunities, not hold your hand out and wait for Uncle Sam to wipe your backside). And you know what? These people are white!

Who are you or anyone else to decide if Blacks are more promiscuous or on government assistance. The question shouldbe why is anyone promiscuous or on government assistance. You mention jokes for your race and negative factors for Blacks and wonder why people are offended. Read a book and grow up.

Homo is an insult, because they felt insulted. Not all black people will return with an insult -- you're generalizing. You're actually creating another stereotype on top of the first one.

There's a difference between asking a question, and giving an insult in question-form.

You're also confronting them. You've already assumed that what you're saying is fact. You could ask them if they think this is true, too, first, before you ask them "why"? And if they don't feel the need to answer, they don't have to. It's a free country. You're allowed to have your opinions, too.

Well maybe we get offended because we should be and not because we are offended easily. I mean...You just said blacks are more promiscuous and More likely to be on government assistance. I'm black and I live in a predominately black neighborhood. I am not on public assistance and I only know one person who is. As far as promiscuity goes if you want the facts more teenage white kids are more into sex then blacks. They just prefer oral sex because they don't think of it is areal sex. I didn't assume this either. They had a special on dateline and 20/20 were they actually went to these different schools and got polls on the number of sexually active teens of different races.

And if you DON'T get offended if someone calls you a Honky or trailer park trash then you need to check your self esteem.

Why would you WANT to say derogatory statements? He said this so I can say that...hell why not speak to everyone exactly the way you'd like to be spoken to? If they damned Government would just make these "dead beat" dad's responsible would we need Public assistance at all? I'd get p.o.d too! "You's a homo!"

First of all...why would you say such things. Not all black people or the majority take government assistance. You should come to my town where kids are having kids and most are on govenment assistance and the majority are WHITE. It isn't right to pigeon hole any race/gender.

No one likes to be told something like that.

Wasn't it ML King that said he looks forward to the point where people are judged based on the content of their character not the color of their skin. You can NEVER read a book by its cover. Its ignorance at its best!

Thats funny but true. I think that they are raised to think that everyones out to get them and that we all owe them something.
That don't mean I believe they all act this way but I grew up in a school where I was the minority and thats the way most of them talked.

I am so tired of the whining and "oh, I'm so oppressed by the whites" attitude. If anything, they oppress themselves by inner city crime, encouraging crime, materialism and promiscuity in rap videos, and choosing not to get good educations even when it is offered to them for free. My husband and I had a premature baby in the NICU and finally paid off his medical expenses now 6 years later and had no help with WIC or medicaid even though we probably qualified but the black babies in there were never visited and the one time we did see one of the parents, all she cared about was getting her Medicaid. We were sickened and it stuck with us forever. I don't like to generalize either but it is hard when they have formed these stereotypes themselves and EXPECT others to pay when they decide to have children with no job or CHOOSE not to work but still feel deserving of a roof over their head.

So, according to you, this is true of ALL Black people? Sometimes, it's not "what you say" it's how you say it. If a statement is meant to hurt and offend, that's what it does. If you "innocently" poke an active bee hive with a stick, you get stung. The bees don't know or care if you're ignorant of bees.

If everyone just treated people the way they'd like to be treated, there would NEVER be a problem. Why don't you be the first one to start?
