dish soap and water depending on how bad it is. if its full of dog or cat hair a stiff brush may be used not to stiff as in dont damage the fins if it is just heavy dirt the dish soap would work fine never .use bleach or chemicals that contain bleach or ammonia if this ac is on a gas fired furnace . also never use out side coil cleaners inside as they contain sodium hydroxide there are some products out there for inside coils but dish soap and a fingernail brush always done good for me good luck

this can be messy using liquids like coil cleaner to disovle the dirt. Just the bottom gets dirt trapped in it, so take off th trianglular panal on the front and reach in with a stiff brush and comb it through the fins. If you keep your filter clean you'll never have to clean your coil
