Yes, early on it is quite accurate. But I remember with mine that the two different measurements they took (one was head and I can't remember the other) yielded different dates by a couple of days (so they averaged, I think).

The earlier the sonogram is done, the more precise it is.I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks with my 2nd child and had sosnogram done at 8wks. Pretty darn close. (within 2 days for me). And with my 1st child I had a sonogram done and found out we were only 5 weeks along at the time...we thought we were 9 wks.
