We are on our fourth mattress with this pair of box springs. We went from pillow top to comfort top. The manufacturer says the box springs are in specs. The latest mattress is a firm Sealy. Could the problem still be with the box springs? There are Verlo mattresses out there that are reversable, would that be the answer? We need opinions of users, not sales people or service techs.

we had a high end pillow top mattress we bought from sears, had it replaced once after about a year because of the ridge in the middle, it also had the dual twin box spring setup, finally after about 7 yrs. we got rid of it and purchased a tempurpedic, wish we'd had one about 20 yrs. ago...great mattress, we got a king, pricey, but worth it... Oh, and might add that we rotated the pillow top about every 3 months...if it had been perfectly square i would have turned it 90 degrees every 3 months to try to get rid of the ridge..lol....

I have had several mattresses that dip on the sides. When I lay in the middle there is a hard ridge from where the sides of the box springs meet. I just got a new set 3 days ago and it is the same. Even with turning the mattress there is a dip on either size. The metal around the edges of the box springs is rigid and does not give therefore creating a very hard surface. It is very miserable to lay on the ridge. Can't figure out a remedy. Have thought about a piece of plywood between the mattress and box springs.

We have the same problem - I don't believe it is the box springs because we recently switched to a platform since our new bed was so high - it is the mattress coils - the ones on the side are squished from your body weight and the center ones are not - we are going to try either a temperpedic (SP?) foam or one of the air mattresses - I think this is inherent in king sized mattresses.

Get a "Select Comfort". Overall cost is not much different than a GOOD quality innerspring set and you can adjust the firmness on each side to each individual's (provided there are only two persons) comfort.
