It all depends on the baby. My oldest two were 8 months old when they were walking and my youngest is 6 1/2 months and is not even crawling yet. A friends son was just a year when he started to walk. Every child is different and develop differently. Don't rush it, he will before you know it!

My 3 all walked before the age of 1, my oldest was 8.5 months old,,my middle was 9.5 months old and my last was a little over 10 months old,,,But Babies will walk when they feel its time. No 2 babies are the same,,Most kids walk by the time they hit 1 and 1/2 yrs old. If you are truly concerned talk to their pediatrician. And believe me when they start, they never stop,,,LOL,, Good Luck

The time to worry is if they're not walking at 18 months. Never compare your baby to another, because all kids are different. My daughter walked with no problem a week after her first b-day. My son, almost 15 months, isn't even close to walking, doesn't even stand on his own yet. He pulls himself up all the time, but doesn't let go.

Even though my son was 3 and 1/2 months premature weighing 1lb. 12 oz. he didn't start walking untul about 20 months old. I have been told time and time again that boys are more stubborn and take a little longer sometimes. I don't think it is nothing to worry about. When he starts walking watch out. My son is non stop. He must be making up for lost time.

my son was 11 months, but my friend's son just started walking and he is 14 months. Some babies don't until they are 16 months. Each child is different and does things at a different rate.

All babies are different so, no worries if your baby is not walking. The average is 13-14 months. My baby will be one in a couple of weeks and just yesterday he walked a little. He seems a little scared of walking so, he may slow down with the process. Their little legs need to build up muscle too...It may be hard on their little legs just to walk a little. So, give it time...he'll have plenty of time to walk once he starts.

Around 15 months is pretty normal. Obvioulsy some begin walking earlier or later. If a baby isn't walking by 18 months to two years, I'd be concerned, but not panicked.

Babies start walking on their own when their legs become strong enough to hold them up. A friend's daughter started walking on her own the day she turned 9 months old....but that is not average.
