Can you say bait and switch? Its is ridiculous I been fighting my divorce for now two years and spent more money than I care to mention for no results. There is no "Due process" and the system should be scrapped and anyone in the process are treated as non-human status by the courts. People wonder why there are so many bad jokes about lawyers just look at the waste of time and money the divorce engine eat up!

First, divorce is big business! Second, governments like for people to be married. It provides a social stability and legal tenets for couples should they decide to split up. Much of the divorce laws depend on what state you live in. I agree with you, if it is amicable, and there is no personal property to split, it should be a quick and easy process. Unfortunately it is not. This is why people should really consider the prospect of marriage before they enter into it.

I think it should be in reverse, you should have to pay at least $ 1000.00 or more, for a marriage licence, & a divorce, should be easier to obtain.. Why? Because then, you would have to think about what your getting yourself into, & save the money to get the licence, once you've done that, you should be pretty sure that this person, is the one you want to spend your life with, & not jump into a marriage, before you even know each other, maybe, then you wouldent make the divorce lawyers rich ???

If you search the Internet, "marriage laws in Indiana", it will bring up sites that tells you exactly what you have to do for the marriage license. We live in Illinois and we just went down the the county clerks office, with two forms of ID and 17 bucks, they take all your information and boom, you have a marriage license. Make sure you know when you can use the license after that, and when it expires. In Illinois you have 60 days after the license is issued to get married after that it's void. Blood test? We didn't have to do. Good luck!

Dude it doesnt take a year, it takes a 90 day waiting period after you file...suposedly so you can reconcile...I filed in January of this year, around MLK day, like the 17th, and my hearing was scheduled for April 10th.
Its a big racket for all the lawyers out there...if it were easy, they wouldnt get their cut....Im not saying it is a conspiracy, but I think it would be better if you were forced to go to some, basic classes.
I had to go to a weekend class to get married in my religion, but the broad still decided that marriage = dating, and when she saw it was work, she split.

Actually they are now trying to make it just as difficult to obtain a license. They try to make you take a counseling course.Dont have to but in my state it saves you 60 bucks on the license.I have been through divorce and i tend to agree with you,the process should be easier since the divorce itself is so painful to most!God bless:O)

Divorce isn't meant to be. I'm sure they make it so hard so maybe you would change your mind and reconcile your differences.
