the best brand for CRT monitors by far is EIZO. i'm just typing this answer on it! - btw, i bought it in April 1996 (more than 10 years ago) and it's still up and running as on the first day.

Well, you'll get a lot of subjective answers on this one, and, of course, mine is included in that list.
But, my choice for Number One monitor is, the AAmazing brand... I had one that I used for about 2 years and then had a house fire.. the heat in the computer room got hot enough that the plastic casing of the monitor got warped, and the vents across the back melted in a bit.. When I got the monitor and system into a friend's house, the monitor would not come on... figured I had to buy a new one, but, couldn't afford it.
Well, a week went buy and, one day, I decided to give it one more chance.. The monitor booted up just fine... I cleaned up the screen and the casing and, after getting into another place, put everything together and used the monitor for another 3 years, and then gave it to my brother, who used it for about another 3 years..
So, I swear by that brand.. unfortunately, I don't know if they're still in business or not..

Hi elly,
You have only asked for CRT monitors. In that case I would suggest or rather insist you to get LG Studioworks only.
For all other types, any model of Samsung is always better. I hope, price is not an issue here.....
All the Best,

I pick up my monitors for free from companies switching over to LDC - there is a glut of CRTs and they're all good when they're free.
