4 years now for me and still going strong. I have been backpacking on almost all the World's continents now, I am still missing one though but I will make it there in due time, I am still young... do not have much money, but I am still young and it has been worth it. 27 Countries now explored, some more than others and the things I have seen and done have changed me in a greater way anything else could!!

I have my next 2 years planned out (as much as I plan anyways) as well on the globe trotting road so I hope to make a total of 6-8 years for my longest vacation!!

I just returned from the longest vacation I've ever taken...FIVE WEEKS!!! I went to the following places, in the following order:

Florence, Italy
Venice, Italy
Cesky Krumlov, Czech republic
Prague, Czech Republic
Budapest, Hungary
Sighisoara, Romania
Brasov, Romania,
Sinaia, Romania
Bucharest, Romania
Austria, Vienna
Split, Croatia
Hvar, Croatia
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Brussels, Belgium

I know you didn't ask this, but my favs were Croatia, Brussels and Vienna. Least favorite was all of Romania. Prague is way over rated.

My longest vacation went for 3 months. I used the money from my divorce settlement and flew with one of my daughters from Australia to the USA. There I met up with a friend I met online and had been talking to for over a year, who had kindly offered to drive us ANYWHERE in the US that we wanted to go. We travelled through 23 states in 2 1/2 months, meeting up with other chat friends and of course sight seeing. The last two weeks were spent staying with a chat friend and her family, before flying home.

The longest vacation I've ever taken was 2 weeks. I travelled to Ireland to see my son, his new wife & my new inlaws! It was a fantastic trip both to see my relatives and to enjoy the wonderful scenery in Ireland.'

In the summer break of 97 I took a 3 mouth break of reality and the real world. I did nothing but sleep and play video games. Good times, good times.

4 weeks of driving around the country, seeing all the sites. hit most of the states west of Illinois. Everyone should do this! You get a good feel of what each state is like, you get to see all the famous sites (yellowstone, rushmore, black hills, rockies, grand canyon, redwoods, painted desert, monument valley, bryce/zion canyons, etc... etc...), and some not so famous but interesting local sites (e.g. corn castle)..

When I was a kid we would go on 2 week vacations. That was common back then but now, who can afford it? We'd go to Florida.
