First, price everything out. You need Motherboard, Dual Core chip, Memory and Video card. When you have the total, then look at the DELL website for a whole machine that has a Dual Core. You might find that an ALL NEW desktop with all of the bells and whistles is cheaper and has much more.

Wow that's old. There is 0 reason to upgrade that at all. That thing is many generations out of date. Do not put any money into it. Im not sure where you live, but in the US you can get a pretty fast Dell with a 20" LCD for $400 on sale. The Dell would be many many many times better than what you have. PS I also think you should give that guy a kick in the ***. Pat

tiger direct has a very good website where you can get bundles. It's a good idea to buy a bundle because you can be comfortable that all the parts work together. Be sure your case is compatible with the footprint of the new motherboard and also verify that your power supply can handle the requirements of your new hardware.

AMD chips often come bundled with SLI motherboards and Nvidia cards, search on Newegg.com

inlel's Core Duo2 isnt a bad chip either though, and they are cheeper, but they dont really come bundled with anything. but like i said, try newegg.com and see what you can find in the price range thats right for you.

I second that, buy a Mac! They're superior computers. Having worked extensively with both Macs and winboxes, I can tell you that Macs last longer, run better, and are far more reliable than any brand of Winbox I've tried.
That's why they cost more.
