I saw it and it was definitely better than I thought but I wanted to see how other people liked it (or didn't)

I loved it!!!! The music is great, especially if you appreciate Outkast, and the choreography is amazing! I personally love period pieces during the Harlem Renaissance and I loved how they switched it up a bit with the whole swing and hip-hop combination in the song and dance. I also liked the movie because it had a little bit of everything: singing, dancing, there was a love story, it was somewhat of a gangster film, etc. I advise anyone to go see it. Outkast really made a mark on this one.

I try not to watch major production company produced films anymore- I prefer the low budget independent films and documentaries over them because they have more hold to them and less hype. Most everything produced by Hollywood these days is fluff.
