The Yankees will probably get Zito because:
1.)They need quality starts from their starters and Zito has done that
2.) He is young . . . only 28
3.) Johnson most likely will be gone
The Yankees will probably not get Soriano because:
1.) He is not a first baseman
2.) He is not a good second baseman - plus the Yankees allready have Cano
3.) Their outfield is finally figured out . . . with him on the roster it would just make matters worse for Torre on who to play outfield.
I guess the only way that the Yankees would get Soriano is if he was traded for A-Rod, whom he got traded for when he went to Texas. Why did Texas ever let go of Soriano?

The Yankees have no interest in Soriano. Their outfield is already full. Sheffield is not going to be playing for the Yankees next year. His option is either not going to be picked up, or they will pick it up and trade him. As for Zito, he may be too expensive even for the Yankees, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the Bronx.
As far as the comment of the Yankees being jealous of the Mets: the Mets have two more wins in a weaker league. Hardly the stuff that jealousy is made of.

Zito, maybe. Soriano maybe not. He is not a first baseman and was a poor 2nd baseman. They're fine with slugging and have an influx of outfielders so I don't see Sori coming back to the Yankees.

If the Yankees wnated Soriano so much, why did they trade him?
Zito may go to the Yanks, or maybe the Mets.

they may get a few pickups but no Zito or Soriano. Soriano will go to the White Sox and Zito will stay with the A's.

I think Zito or Shemidt will go to Mets because Mets have been interested on Zito since last winter and Mets have chance to get Zito or Shemidt. And, they want a chance to get Carlos Lee or Soriano (if dont' get contract extenstion) and maybe trade lastings miliege and get great player.

it doesn't really matter who goes or if anybody does or not. the point is that the yankees already have a helluva good team as it is. look how they pulled themselves out of the hole this year and came out on top. they have money, yes, but they also have a damn good team and always have and probably always will have. so whether they take zito, soriano, or someone else does
not matter, they're a helluva good team. go yankees go!!!!

i agree with u. but with the soriano thing, i think they will keep abrea and move sheffield to first. they might sign another first baseman, but not soriano.
they have a huge chance of getting zito.

Soriano plays second base and reluctantly goes to outfield. The Yankees have a prize at second with Melky Cabrerra. Fans love rookies who come from their own farm team. They would be foolish to trade Melky to get Alphonso. But the Yankee front office have done much dumber things -- so who knows?
