The world would be a little more rosy if no-one had them or chemical, biological weapons, this is just a start perhaps.

Basically I would prefer that there were no nuclear weapons but as that is now impossible, their spread should be limited as increased numbers of places holding these weapons increases the chances of them being used and the whole world suffering the fall out.
Having said that, I can see why Iran would want to go nuclear given that it has nuclear powers on three sides, Russia, Pakistan and not forgetting Israel. How is it that Israel managed to aquire a nuclear arsenal in spite of the non-proliferation treaty and the security council barely batted an eye lid??

The Iranian people and government (such as it is) have a major axe to grind with the west in general and with the U.S. specifically. We did overthrow their democratically elected leader (Dr. Mossadegh) so we could install the Shah of Iran into power and suck huge oil profits out from under them back in 1953. It wasn't until the return of Khomeini in 1979 that we fully understood just how bad of a leader the Shah had turned out to be, and just how upset the people of Iran were about it. Couple all this justified hatred of America with the radical Islamic agenda of destroying Israel utterly (a goal they make no attempt to keep a secret) and I think anyone in their right mind can see that if Iran gets nuclear weapons they won't hesitate to use them against their enemies (America and Israel) regardless of the consequences to the region and the world. We have enough nuclear warheads on one Ohio class submarine to kill every living thing in Iran and render the entire country uninhabitable for the next 3000 years, but somehow I don't think that fact will deter Iran from starting World War Three anyway.

Iran has publicly stated that it would destroy the state of Israel. There are certain countries that should never be trusted with nuclear weapons, one of which is Iran. There are ways to have nuclear power stations without enriching uranium. Iran has chosen to go down the enrichment road which leads to nuclear weapons.

Because Iran's official policy is to obliterate Israel from the face of the Earth. Iranian leadership is just plain irresponsible. Sure, if you want a global nuclear conflagration, give them nuclear weapons. But I wouldn't trust them as far as I could spit.

Yes, but the countries that have them do so as a deterrent. The concept of Mutually Assured Destruction goes back several decades.
The Soviet Union had nukes, the U.S. had nukes but both sides knew the each of them had the capability to totally annihilate the othe side. In other words, each side had too much to lose.
Iran doesn't embrace that concept. Their religious philosophy holds that if they die in a "Jihad" they will find everlasting salvation. And any attack against Israel would certainly be a Jihad. If they did so, then the outrage from the rest of the world would certainly be overwhelming, many in Iran would die, fulfilling their religious tenets. In other words, they don't care about the consequences of their actions as long as they accomplish their goal.

Think about this, would you let a homicidal murderer who has promised to kill you have a loaded gun? If you are the least bit sane the answer is no. That is why no non-muslim nation in the world wants to let them have nukes. They are committed to the total destruction of all who are non-muslim. This is a religion of violence,/ murder, and all in the name of their god. Don't be fooled that they are anything else. If 9/11 did not convince you then what about 7/7 or the recent exploits? Simply put, you don't arm your enemies especially with a bomb that will without the world when they do not value our live any more than they do a fly's if that much.

I think they should. After all, they've been threatened with them by the US for a long time. What right does the US have to say that they shouldn't?
And that goes for all countries.
But the US thinks it's SO much more fair and intelligent and even-handed in its understanding of the world and of "democratic ideals" that it is the ONLY power in the universe that is qualified to have the BIG GUNS.
Sure they are. That's why they're so good at nation building in the middle east. Right? Oh, and so well loved throughout the world too. Did I mention that?
Sure.

Myriad reasons. First and foremost, they Iranians have been supporters of Islamic terror groups for quite some time. It's only logical to assume that they would willingly give any sort of weapons they might develop to terrorists.
