Permit me to answer as the only person here who has played both. Yes. I got a chance to play the Wii the THQ Wii Press Event held in New York recently, and it is truly extraordinary. The graphics are far, far better (look at videos of Super Mario Galaxy if you don't believe me). To put that in perspective, let me say this: PS2 was the least powerful system of the current generation. Xbox was the most powerful. The Wii is going to be more powerful than a Xbox.
The gameplay is also amazing. I honestly cannot describe how right it feels to just turn the controller to turn a car. That is just one of the styles of play. Also you have to consider that PS2 games will stop being produced in the immediate future, while the Wii has at least 20 launch games.
To summarize: the Wii's gameplay, graphics, a future are all looking better than the PS2.
(I apologize if i sound like a fanboy, but honestly, there is no competition)

A PS2 has a lot more games to offer than the Wii thats cause it has been out for longer. The wii may be a step up from the PS2 cause it is a new generation console. If you like the PS2 alot but you feel that you want to get a better console and that you are sudjesting the wii because of its low price. I would wait till the PS3 gets lower in its price because if you like it or not the PS3 is going to be the most powerful console on the market. Graphical capabilities of Wii are not revolutionary, they are ok just a bit step up but the the real innovation is in gameplay, it is very different. You may or may not like it.
As for me I think Wii is definitely better than PS 2

I have a Nintendo Ds and my Fiancee has a PSP - His is definetly better and games are alot better, but if your looking for something that does the 'oldies' - mario, sonic, tetris etc.. DS is the way to go.
Not sure what a Wii is??

so far no because we are not able to physically own one and it is not supported with any games available if we could get one so ps2 wins for now

yes in Wii you get to move around and it unbreake able ps2 are breake able.

PS2s are much better. Trust me. I have both and me and my cousins and all like my PS2 better.

I vote yes and no because it has multiple capabilities regarding controlling but so far, a limited variety of games....

yes as i thik the graphic is much nicer though i do not know whether there are mp3 available but in comparison to graphic and programme handling(lags and runtime error) it is much better
