There is nothing "effective" about those two parties.
Given the electoral college system and the required 270 votes needed in a presidential election, it is possible for the candidate which resieves the majority of votes, to be effectively given no power as congress would determin the winner. For example... if an independant gets 269 electoral votes (50%)and the GOP gets 54 electoral votes (10%) and the Dems get 216 votes (40%) congress would pick the president / vice president. Since the GOP "controls" congress they would elect the GOP candidate. Thus a person with 10% of the vote would become president.

So are you asking a question or making a political statement? How about picking up a book about the history of American government. And since these two parties are in control and you don't like it why don't you leave. Go somewhere where Ha-mas can be elected into power or maybe the Nazi party can be re-elected into power, or how about the communist party, white supremest party, or the damnmyfingerstinks causeijustpulleditoutofmyass party?
Even though it is very corrupt and may eventually lead to it's own destruction, our system of government is the best this world has to offer. You obviously need to educate yourself or ask an appropriate QUESTION on what a party is before you try and make a political statement that sounds like someone passing gas!

Are you stupid or what. Who makes up those two parties knucklehead. The American people is who. The reason those two retain power is that most Americans don't bother with the research or pay attention and use their own brain power to figure out who the best choice is. You will find that people vote by party, their religious leader backed or just a name they heard and remembered. It's hard to believe that the greatest nation on earth has the people with the sheep's attitude. One leads and the rest follow. Get involved and pay attention. If not for your sake then at least for the future generations.

A two-party circus is still better than a three-party circus with dumb-o-crats, repuglycannots and liberto-clowns.
It is still better than a four party mayhem with dumb-o-crats, repuglycannots, liberto-clowns and neo-con-traitor-thugs.
Problem is, politics is a dirty game. And governments are de facto SCAMS orchestrated on people to plunder, loot, and perpetuate selfish agenda by a few determined cohesive groups or individuals.
Only when the people stop putting up with politicians the country will improve.

Sigh. Unfortunately, we Americans have to put up with your kind of philosophy and half-witted attempts at humor. Perhaps if you educated yourself, you might be able to better understand just what the h*** is going on and why.
Have a nice day.
