if i discuss the idea with prospective buyer he may use it and not pay me at all. buyers could be in other countries. how to protect my idea. its all about changing a electronic gadget.

So if you want to have peace of mind, get it patented in countries that you want the product to be sold in - example, countries that will give you big volume. This way, even if the product is modified with your consent, you are still protected in a big share of your market. also the law suits in infringements can take a long time. So even if the product can be duplicated, if you have protection in the end-consumer markets, they cannot sell into them.

Other governments like China do not support you.
Keep it secret some other way..
