What fun:) I agree. My son wanted his ear pierced and we didn't allow it. But when he turned 11 he did it on his own and it got infected. So we made him take it out, and the next year he got his friends to do it. Again, this time because of a cheap earing it got infected and we made him take it out. This year he did it again and so far so good, so we let him keep it. Not because I want my son walking around with an earing, but because he's obviously going to keep doing it no matter how bad it gets infected or how much we ground him. So I say maybe getting it done by a professional would be a better idea then someone else doing it later down the road. The holes do close back up in case it's just a fad, not to mention you could use it as a reward for doing something he needs to work on. Just an idea. I wish I would've let it slide years ago. My dad is totally redneck and hates it, but he loves my son. So besides the teasing, it wasn't anything major. Either way good luck.

NO. I don't understand why parents get their babies ears pierced, much less their eight-year-old sons.
What his friends parents do is their mess to clean up later. Don't make it yours too. If you are uncomfortable, pay attention to that feeling. Let your son be eighteen or old enough to understand the full ramifications of a hole in a guy's ear. He might want it now when his friend says it's cool, and hate it two weeks later.

think about this. does your eight your old keep his room clean without being asked? Does he bath regularly without being asked? does he brush his teeth without being asked? if not are you prepared to let him have the responsibility of taking care of having his ear pierced.
personally i didn't let my son get his pierced but i am old fashioned in that aspect and feel men shouldn't get their ears pierced. i do know its the new fad.
a simple piercing now, i wonder will it become a thing so next it will be the tongue or an eyebrow, etc.
good luck on your decision

Yes let him go thru the phase as u said its a phase and he will so grow out of it and take it off himslef, whn y put a restriction on a teen he /she finds it all the more intruiging, so whn u say go ahead and expalin the good and the bad side and leave him/her to make his choice there is every chance that they will deciede fr the better.

No, but then I am one to strictly believe boys should not get their ears pierced. Either way, even if you think that is not the issue and disagree with me , he is still too young. Wait till he gets older. Just my honest opinion.

Let the child have his ear pierced. Trust me there will be bigger arguements to fight over when he gets older. Save your energy for than.
Its an earing!.......he can pull it out when he gets tired of it.

No you should'nt let him. He's only doing it becuase his friends are.If you let him, your sending the message that its okay to to fall in peer pressure.Even though it doesn't sound like it. He only wants to cuase his friends are.Remember the hole is for life.or the scar.Think he's only eight. Do what you think is best for him.Not what he thinks is a good appearance. He's only 8!

Let him. If he grows out of it he can always take it out. It's really not a big deal.
