Also, what if he got sucked into the Great Red Spot of Jupiter, could he escape?

Probably not. The pre-Crisis Superman could have, but then, his powers just plain violated the laws of physics. They should have called him Supernatural-man.

In his current version, I don't think that Superman could escape; though the writers would probably have to find some way around it, like having him come out of a white hole in some other universe and having to spend a long time travelling back. (Don't use that idea, please! I can't stand 'quest' type stories.)

To support my statement, there was a classic story (I think it was called For The Man Who Has Everything.) It was set in the Fortress of Solitude (the original, Arctic one) and Baman and Wonder Woman were there to celebrate Superman's birthday.

Mongul also showed up and proceeded to immobilize Superman with a 'black mercy', a kind of parasitic plant that would root into its victim's chest and give it a fantasy of whatever it most desired. In Superman's case, this was that Krypton had not exploded, and he found himself there, married to Lyla Lerrol.

[It also turned out to be a nightmare, in that his father was a washed up old has been, universally regarded as a crackpot for his (failed) prediction that Krypton would explode. His mother died of cancer and his cousin Kara wanted nothing to do with him.]

To cut the story short, when the story was over (all right, Superman and Batman were saved by Robin, who used Mongul's own glove to handle the black mercy and put it on Mongul instead) Superman said he would throw Mongul into a black hole. Mongul was tougher than Superman, he beat Wonder Woman unconscious and was wiping up the floor with Superman for a good portion of the story, so if Superman thinks a black hole could hold Mongul, (and that hasn't been contradicted in the stories since then) it could probably hold him.

Superman could escape the Great Red Spot. It is just a huge storm. Krypton was probably ten or twenty times more massive than Jupiter. Speaking from the viewpoint of astrophysics, Krytpon was probably just short of being a star itself, mass-wise.

Superman's powers ought to be reduced on Jupiter, due to the increased gravity and the reduced amount of starlight he would receive there. Say, cut his power by 25%. I'd like to see them do a story like that, but I doubt that DC will ever establish cold and hard numerical limits for Superman's powers.

Superman Black Hole

The Spot of Jupiter, yeah. It's just a huge storm, he'd have more of an issue with Jupiter's gravity, but Superman could probably break free.

A Black Hole, forget it. Kryptonian, mutant or otherwise... doesn't matter. You get inside the event horizon and there's no coming back. He'd end up like all other matter & energy- maybe transported to another universe.

And no, the modern-day Superman can't fly anywhere even close to the speed of light.

Actually......Superman can fly faster than the speed of light. That's how he turned back time in Superman 1. The theory is if you can travel faster than light (186,000 miles per second) you can breach the space time continuum and travel backward. So, since he can in fact do this he would travel fast enough to escape it's effects and come out on the other side.

If you go into a black hole, you get crushed to smaller than an atom. There's no other universe, just....black.

By the law of relativity, nothing is faster than the speed of light. So this law must apply to all the things found in the universe, Superman too!
