I don't like M.J.'s behavior......I wouldn't have him anywhere near children. Nevertheless, his body of work ranks with the all-time greats of R&B. How are you dealing with this conflict of emotions?

No, Sticky...you're not boring me. I believe millions of Americans are dealing with the same issue. So why not talk about it?

You have an excellent point. It is very hard to think of the guy and what he has done/been accused of and then think, oh I feel like listening to Black or White (or whatever). If I hear the music in a bar or something, my mind doesn't go to those things straight away though. I find it hard to relate songs like Thriller to those trials. In part, I think it is because when I think of MJ, I think of a white guy, not a black guy. A study on this would be interesting I think because I am pretty sure I am not the only one. Probably boring you now though. I think given a lot of time, his music will again be widely respected. Especially after he dies, which is sadly when most artists earn their greatest respect.

The baby with the bathwater quote seems so apropos. Anyway, I still enjoy his old music, and I think he had his heyday, and that time has passed unfortunately due to the things he did, or may have done his reputation is forever tarnished and there's no coming back from that. As far as his title is concerned, honestly who can top that, even despite all his antics who has that level of talent in the r&b arena, Prince, maybe?

It is really hard to deal with rationally. His alleged and actual behavior sicken me. I still love his music, though. Mostly, I just agree that he is creepy and keep listening to his Cd's without admitting it. You can't take away the talent or enjoyment.
