What I've found to be tried and true is FOLEX. It's sold at Walmart and Lowes/Home Depot in a white bottle with purple writing. I don't buy any other carpet cleaner, this is it. You spray it on the stain and you can see it start to disappear right before your eyes. You work it into the stain with your fingers, I usually wear a glove, and then you use a paper towel or old towel to blot out of the carpet. That's it. No rinsing, no scrubbing, as scrubbing wears down your carpet fibers. I PROMISE you this will work.

My daughter dropped a HUGE glass of red gatorade on white-gray carpeting and put a note on the stain telling me she would take care of it in the morning! Well by the time I discovered the stain the next morning, everything was dry. I tried several things including Oxy Clean (which took a little of the stain out). I kept doing an internet search and found a bizarre tip. Shaving Cream! It took about 3 trys but the shaving cream did the trick. I massaged foam shaving cream into the carpet. Let it sit for a couple of minutes then took a small wet brush and worked it into the stain. This stain was at least 10inch diameter circle and no one can believe that the stain was there.

A word of caution, these home remedies may work great but every time you work on a stain and your not removing it, it will become harder to get out and maybe even dye the colour of your carpet. You can absorb a lot out initially when wet and then you should keep it damp with a damp towel until you extract it out, rubbing chemicals and solutions into the stain may result in permanent damage to your carpet. I understand that everyone wants to save money but sometimes it may be better to call in a pro and do as I said above, extract it out before it dries and sets into the carpet. Keep it damp, call in a professional or rent a steam cleaner and extract it out A.S.A.P.

There is a product called "juice out", which i believe it is just some ordinary type of cleaning solution...that you put on the stain then take a damp cloth over the stain, and put the iron on top of that and it lifts the stain right off. I have used every type of cleaner (lysol, pinesol, mr clean..etc) used the damp cloth, and then put the iron over it and it also lifts the stain right off. Kind of like a steam clean treatment.

Use club soda, or carbonated soda water. Pour the club soda onto the stain and them blot the soda and stain up with an absorbent cotton towel. It may take several trys.

Try spraying "Resolve Carpet Cleaner" to the stain and scrubing with a brush. then then wash that area with warm water and let dry. Also you can try putting club soda on the stain to bring the stain to the surface.
