My wife and I were recently married. She began taking the pill about 3 months before we got married. We both were virgins upon being married. She has just come to the point in her pill regimine where she is supposed to have her period. She is still in the sugar pills, but has not begun or shown signs yet. We are freaking out about her being pregnant. Is it to early to worry?

Yeah, just a little....early, that is. I wouldn't be hugely concerned until she misses another one, then all you have to do is go to the drugstore and buy an EPT. Then you'll know. But i have serious doubts. That is, if she's actually been taking the pills...

Yes it is too early to worry. She can start her cycle at any time while she's on the sugar pills. It doesn't have to be right away. Some people will only experience light spotting if they've never been on BCP before. But if you would like to alleviate some of it, go to the store and get a test. Sometimes just seeing the negative will induce the period.

don't freak out yet! On most of the birth control pills it takes a few days to start the cycle. She will probably never get her cycle the first couple of days after the sugar pills. Is this the first time that this has happened?

A lot of things can affect periods like stress. If she has been taking the pill religiously then you're probably alright.

If you are concerned try an early pregnancy test you can get at the pharmacy. If you are, you are and good luck.

You should have her take a home pregnancy test. It is very important that you do not start a new month's pill pack if she is pregnant. If she is pregnant, you need to get her to a doctor quickly to make sure it isn't ectopic. That's a huge danger with getting pregnant while on the pill.

I would definatly go get a prego test and make sure. You don't want to start a new pill pack and be the possibility of being pregnant, the effects of the pill to the unborn fetus could be damaging.
